Fishing the river

Landing Hands-on (default) Relaxed

How to play

Read the water. Pick a place and a bait. Each place shows what the water is doing; the notebook says what has worked.
Watch the float. Quiet moments pass on their own. When a sign shows, the float holds it until you decide: Strike (S), Wait (W) to see what it does next, or Lift (L). There is no rush.
Land it. Hands-on: the fish moves in real time, gently. Lean the rod against its run with ←/→ (or A/D, or the buttons) and keep it centred with ↓ (or C) when it bores deep. One press sets the rod; no holding. Relaxed: each numbered move waits for you; answer with 1 lean left, 2 lean right, 3 give line, 4 draw in (arrow keys work too). Hands-on is the default; you can switch setting at any time, even with a fish on.
Decide. The notebook records the fish first. Then give it to someone who asked, put it towards Ottilie's exchange, or release it (G, T, R).

For your first few attempts Ottilie adds a short tip; Hide tips turns them off. Pause with P at any time; the river also pauses when you switch away or a game window opens. End outing stops whenever you like and takes you back to the village. A few casts is a whole outing.
